Prince William Award - Y5
Children in Year 5 will soon begin the The Prince William Award (PWA), working towards the Explorer level after the Easter holidays. This programme is designed to help children develop the confidence, resilience and inner strength to ‘dare to be their best self’.
The award will be delivered by Skillforce. SkillForce is a national education charity, employing predominantly ex-servicemen and women to deliver the Prince William Award in schools. HRH, Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge is the royal patron. A SkillForce instructor will be coming into school once per week to run a series of workshops, sessions and projects with Year 5 children that will encourage them to understand and reflect on the importance of key character traits like resilience, self-belief, team-work and confidence.
This is achieved through children taking part in interactive games and activities, community projects and reflective learning, all of which follow a scheme of work that has been developed and evaluated by some of the country’s top universities and educationalists..
We would like to invite parents of children in Year 5 to a Parent Meeting on Tuesday 2nd April at 5pm in the KS2 hall to find out more information.
I am delighted that more of our children will be taking part in The PWA. If you would like to find out more then please do visit the SkillForce website, www.skillforce.org follow SkillForce on Twitter, @SkillForceUK, or watch some of the videos on YouTube that explain in more detail about The Prince William Award. There is even footage of Prince William, talking about why he is so passionate about supporting this programme.
