Attendance

Dear Parent(s)/Carer(s),

Attendance at the start of this academic year is a concern. Our current attendance is 95.4% and our attendance has been below national primary attendance for 3 weeks. This means that there have been over 2483 missed lessons by pupils already this year.

Absences matter. Within these lessons there are missed moments for pupils to make connections in their learning, missed moments to build relationships and missed moments of wonder, joy and excitement. Attendance matters because moments matter and as good as our teachers are, they cannot recreate moments and lessons that are gone.

We know that for some children things like ongoing medical issues, viruses and family holidays have played their part and that once these are resolved, attendance will now improve. However, we also know that sometimes we need to work together to support you with your child’s attendance.

I would therefore ask that if you would like to talk to us about issues affecting your child’s attendance that you contact Miss Towers so that we can help. As a school we ‘do everything in love’ and want you to know that we are here to help with your child’s attendance if you need it.

It is vital that we reduce the number of missed lessons for our children through good attendance.
