Sports Events

Children from Years 1, 2, 3 & 4 have taken part in a Football Festival at St John Fisher's this week.

The festival was a non competitive sporting event; the aim of the event was for the children to have fun playing football against other schools.

The children were a credit to our school and represented Windmill brilliantly. They showed great sportsmanship. It may not have been competitive but Windmill definitely won a few of their matches scoring some World Cup worthy goals and some fantastic saves that Pickford would be proud of.

Well done!

"Our team did really well and I enjoyed playing." - James 4P

MISSION ACTIVE - june 2018

Last week, all children in Year 4 took part in the annual ‘Mission Active’ event in Huddersfield. Children participated in sporting events ranging from rugby and cricket to ‘boot camp’ exercises.

They had a really fun day and enjoyed meeting and working with children from different schools in Kirklees. Our children’s wonderful behaviour was recognised while they were attending this event and members of other schools commented on how well our behaved our children were and the great sportsmanship they showed.

Well done children, we are very proud of you. Year 4 staff would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Hussain, Mrs Stott and Mrs Burrows for helping out with the event.

SWIMMING GALA - 20th June 2018

The swimming gala at Dewsbury Sports centre last night was a  wonderful evening. The children were an absolute pleasure to be with and Mrs Wilson and Mrs Thompson were very proud of them. They were extremely sporting, enthusiastic, determined and supportive of one another and even other schools too. They were a delight.

Well done to Harvie who was courageous when he was missed off his heats by the swimming teachers but then swam alone - to a packed sports centre - to get his individual time.

The Results
The girls team came 2nd overall, and the boys came 4th.

Izzy won silver in individual breaststroke
Emilia won silver in individual freestyle
Boys freestyle relay won gold!! - Jake, Finlay and Connor
Girls freestyle relay won silver - Izzy, Evie and Emilia

Thank you also to lots of supportive parents for being there too.

On the 3rd May,  a team of children from Windmill took part in the Mini Red and Mini Orange Tennis Tournaments.

The Mini Reds enjoyed playing multiple games against other schools from Kirklees. After a tense wait they found out they had made it to the final. During the final match, the Mini Reds stayed calm and triumphed making Windmill champions for the second year in a row! Hooray!!

Whilst the Mini Reds were playing their matches, the Mini Oranges played five games winning every one! They made it to the final against Roberttown C Of E Junior & Infant School and played a great game coming second and winning a silver medal.

Well done Windmill!

“10 members of year 5 were invited to a Tag Rugby tournament, this was an all-day event which took place outside. We did get rained on but it was worth it! 22 schools took part in the event and we came 7th! We have been playing tag rugby over the last few weeks learning about the skills and the rules from our Tag Rugby coach, WE ARE EXPERTS. We had an amazing time playing against other schools”.
