What do OFSTED Say?

Our school was inspected by OFSTED in May 2017 and judged to be 'GOOD" with 'OUTSTANDING' personel development, behaviour and welfare:

  • Parents value the school’s work highly. All of the parents responding to Ofsted’s online questionnaire, Parent View, would recommend the school, and all believe that the school is well led and managed. Communication with parents is strong and there are many opportunities for them to find out about their children’s work and how to make a good contribution to children’s learning.
  • The school promotes spiritual, moral social and cultural education exceptionally well.
  • Pupils’ attitudes to learning are strong and their behaviour, both in class and around the school, is exemplary. They are quick to act on the good advice given by their teachers in order to strengthen their work, and are highly supportive of each other’s learning.
  • All pupils spoken to say they are safe in school and they enjoy school. Pupils are very pleasant, polite and respectful to each other and to adults. Attendance is excellent.

We educate the 'Whole child'

We believe that education is not just about high academic standards, but also guiding children to become reflective, respectful learners who care for those around them and treat everyone with compasison and fairness. Our Church School inspection in November 2016 judged us to be an OUTSTANDING Church school, highlighting the following strengths:

  • Strong visionary leadership of the school routed in Christian Values that have set high expectations resulting in raised standards.
  • Explicitly articulated Christian values of the school underpinning its excellent relationships with all the school family.
  • The behaviour of the pupils, their attitude to learning and the mutual respect and the love they have for each other.

How does Windmill compare to other local schools?

Our Attainment and Progress outcomes have strengthened and our 2017 results are higher than 2016. These will be published and verified in December 2017. Our 2016 Attainment outcomes can be seen below and compared with Batley Grammar School and Birstall Primary Academy. Pupils make strong progress in our school and achievement at the end of Year 6 is above national averages and higher than Batley Grammar School and Birstall Primary Academy.
